Clash of the Cans Tournament Saturday, November 13

Our tournament this weekend is Saturday, November 13, at the Utah Athletic Center at 51 River Bend Way, North Salt Lake, UT 84054 (Club V North facility). The schedule has not yet been posted, but our team will likely be scheduled to play first. The tournament starts at 8:00 AM which means we still need to be in the gym and warming up on court #10 by 7:25 AM at the latest. More tournament details will eventually be posted at

Thank you to the Jennings family for providing food this Saturday. Players should have eaten a healthy and fulfilling breakfast before coming to the tournament which means needing to get to sleep early Thursday AND Friday nights to be able to get up extra early on Saturday to do that. Players should still pack extra snacks. No players should leave the venue for food. Please ensure the athletes always have the following: both uniform tops, black athletic shorts, water bottle, athletic shoes, and player folder with a pen or pencil. (Optional items to bring are a chair, kneepads, hoodie, sweats, and/or blanket.) Each venue where we play will charge an entry fee. It is typically $5 per spectator. Athletes and coaches on the roster may enter for free. All players should expect to help with officiating responsibilities and stay until the end of the day unless they are released to their parents by the coach.

I will be checking the progress each individual has made with their player folders at practice today. All of their journal entries should be filled-in for every practice day (whether they attended or not), game day notes from all our last tournaments, AND every assignment must be completed. It was fun to play with the 18-1 team on Monday for the last part of practice and hear all of their comments and advice for our team. We have come a long way already this season and look forward to achieving more great things as we progress. We had a great team party and meeting last week where we discussed some travel plans for January through July. We are still finalizing practice days and times as well as the travel dates and locations.

I removed the deadline for getting a USAV membership from our calendar. Due to the date conflicts and exorbitant costs, our current plan is to not attend any USAV events. The Club V Directors and I believe the bigger and better boys events this year will be AAU tournaments. Please let me know ASAP if you have any questions or concerns.
