It was another fun tournament last weekend where we learned a lot and battled in some tough matches. We play this weekend in the 14s division on our home courts Friday and Saturday, October 15-16, at 308 S 1250 W, Lindon, UT 84042 (Club V South facility). Our team is currently scheduled to play first at 4:00 PM. All the players need to be in the gym and warming up on court 1 by 3:15 PM at the latest. We will likely play at 8:00 AM on Saturday and need to be on the court warming up by 7:25 AM that morning. More tournament details can be found at UBVA.info.
Thank you to Kaala Tafa who provided food for the boys last weekend, the Allen family for this Friday and Vaitai family for Saturday. Players should pack extra snacks for these long days in the gym. No players should leave the venue for food. Please ensure the athletes always have the following: both uniform tops, black athletic shorts, water bottle, athletic shoes, and player folder with a pen or pencil. (Optional items to bring are a chair, kneepads, hoodie, sweats, and/or blanket.) Each venue where we play will charge an entry fee. It is typically $5 per spectator. Athletes and coaches on the roster may enter for free. All players should expect to help with officiating responsibilities and stay until the end of the day unless they are released to their parents by the coach.
As always, I will check the progress each individual has made with their player folders. All of their journal entries should be filled-in for every practice day (whether they attended or not), game day notes from our last tournament, AND every assignment must be completed including this week’s Thirteen Steps to Better Coachability.
The Player Medical Release Form is also past due for those few who haven’t yet completed it. Please download, complete, and email or print to give in-person.
