Happy Thanksgiving!

Parents and Players,

Welcome to the Elevate Athletics 15-Nike team! Thank you for your commitment to be a part of this family. I can already tell we have an incredible group of parents and players. It is going to be a fun season!

I was impressed by how well the players have already responded at our first couple of practices. I loved the intensity and can tell we have already improved at a few crucial skills. I would like to meet as a team before our next practice if every parent and player can attend. I removed the previously scheduled December 1st meeting from the calendar because not everybody could be there. I would instead like to meet from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM on Tuesday, November 28, at Freedom Prep Academy 1761 W 820 N, Provo UT. Please let me know if any player and/or at least one of the parents are not able to attend so we can reschedule it for when everybody can be there.

Please come to the meeting prepared to discuss your individual and team expectations for this season. Please RSVP by phone, text message, or email CoachBobWard@gmail.com.

We will discuss the following items:

1. Expectations for season
2. Team contact list – communication – www.CoachBobWard.com
3. Practice schedule and attendance
4. Tournament schedule and attendance
5. Parent and player contract
6. Carpooling to practice and/or tournaments
7. Food/drinks at tournaments (team parent)
8. AAU and USA Volleyball Membership
9. Coaching philosophy – playing time
10. Homework – player manifesto

Players should be working on their 8.5 x 11 inch player manifesto which is the homework assignment discussed at practice and due at our meeting. Here are two samples you can refer to if needed: Player Manifesto from USA Volleyball and the following image created by Hannah Oakley, a 16-year-old young lady who plays high school hockey and rugby, carries a 3.98 GPA, and has her own photography business.

Manifesto Sample

Players should make it meaningful to THEMSELVES. The words or pictures they choose can be quotes, personal sayings, familiar phrases, proverbs, translations, goals, values, sports-related, religious, or anything else that inspires each player. These are the things that are important to them which can better their lives. I believe it will help us improve at volleyball by being able to focus on what is really important.

Please let me know if you have any questions. Have a Happy Thanksgiving! I look forward to seeing everybody back in the gym on November 28!
